Roller coaster cameras explained

Captomatic stainless steel OFF-Ride roller coaster camera system installed on a pole in a waterpark on a clear blue sky background

In today's world, where technology is deeply integrated into our daily lives, using a camera is as simple as opening an app, pointing, and taking a picture. However, when it comes to specialized industries cameras are categorized in a more precise and purpose-driven manner.
At Captomatic, we focus on developing advanced roller coaster camera systems that enhance visitor experiences by capturing the thrill of the ride.
In the attraction industry these systems are generally divided into two main categories:

OFF-Ride Camera Systems

Often referred to as on-ride cameras, OFF-Ride camera systems, are installed off-the-ride, strategically positioned to capture high-speed action as the races by. Much like a speed camera on the road. This kind of re versatile, allowing for installation on poles, walls, or other mounting surfaces. This flexibility makes them ideal for installations that needs to be brought to action fast and with less effort.

One of our standout products in this category is the OCH2 OFF-Ride camera system . Built to withstand any weather conditions that a roller coaster might face, the OCH2 is a robust and reliable solution that captures high-quality images and videos simultaneously. Its adaptability and powerful performance make it a top choice for attractions looking to offer unforgettable experiences.

Discover OFF-Ride

ON-Board camera systems

Previously known as ON-Ride cameras, we have rebranded this category to ON-Board camera systems to avoid confusion with OFF-Ride solutions. These systems are installed directly on the roller coaster, offering a personal roller coaster selfie experience. They capture every twist, turn, drop, and loop, along with the raw emotions of the riders.

While the concept may seem straightforward, the technology behind it is anything but simple. The camera must be durable enough to withstand the harsh conditions of a high-speed roller coaster, including potential impacts from passengers. It must also be compact and lightweight, ensuring safety while providing a wide-angle view that captures the entire row of riders. Once the images or videos are captured, they are wirelessly transmitted to a server for processing, making this a true roller coaster camera system that seamlessly integrates hardware and software.

It's an excellent choice for attractions looking to start their partnership with Captomatic.
